Families

The Market is well known for having “something for everyone,” and that definitely includes families with kids! Our compact size makes the Market very walking- and stroller-friendly, and there are plenty of shaded places to sit down in between adventures. Here are our recommended sites to visit that provide colorful fun and engagement for youthful senses.

Kip's Toyland

Family owned and opertated for more than 70 years, Kip's Toyland is a wonderland of imaginative, fun toys, games, dolls, puzzles, costumes stuffed animals, and much more--no electronic toys allowed! With the help of his daughter Lily, store owner, Don Kipper, carries on the legacy that his late father, Irvin Kipper, started upon returning home from WWII--celebrating the joy of good, old-fashioned play!

Sticker Planet

This family-owned shop has been a Farmers Market favorite among locals and tourists since 1992. This unique store has thousands of fun stickers, decals, tattoos, sticker activity books and so much more. Whether you’re looking for the old-school experience of picking stickers from rolls or searching for the perfect decal for your laptop…if it sticks, you’ll find it here! Click here to learn more about owners Hilary and Richard Kraft.

Magee's House of Nuts

Magee’s wide, superior variety of nuts has been a tradition (and a holiday staple) for decades. Pecans, walnuts, macadamias and several varieties of peanuts are all available by weight or in charming gift boxes. There’s a special treat here, as well: the fresh nut butters are scrumptious and, if your timing is right, you can watch the machine which makes fresh peanut butter work its magic.

Janie and Jack

Janie and Jack is a clothing and apparel brand with every kid at its heart because individual style starts early. Our collections feature modern twists on classics. We are known for thoughtful details, family moments and special gifts. With everything we do, we hope to make every day a little more special. Sporte Fashion

A wide variety of T-shirts and sweatshirts is available at this shop where you can find a special top to fit every member of the family, and the friendliest service around. There are sporty T-shirts, stylish, Hollywood glittery T-shirts and often favorite team T-shirts (especially if you like the Lakers & the Dodgers).

Patsy D'Amore's Pizza

Before Patsy introduced it, nobody in Los Angeles had ever even heard of pizza. The most authentic pizza anywhere, Patsy’s pizza is still baked in the original brick oven with toppings as varied as you wish. Outstanding lasagna and spaghetti, too. Don’t visit without checking out the magnificent photos on the walls (the shot of Patsy and Frank Sinatra is as delicious as the food). Friends and Family Pizza Co

From the celebrated team behind Friends & Family in Hollywood, we are pleased to welcome Friends & Family Pizza Co. The brainchild of Pastry Chef/Baker Roxana Jullapat and Chef Daniel Mattern, Friends & Family Pizza creates their savory pies using naturally-leavened sourdough from grains milled by Grist & Toll out of Pasadena. This chef-driven eatery will be your new West Patio go-to spot.

Charlie’s Coffee Shop

A great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. No matter what you order – the exquisite French Toast, a great sandwich, a cheeseburger so perfect it's a star on TV and in newspapers – expect to hear the gang behind the counter bellow your name when your order is ready. (Critic Favorite)

Phil's Deli & Grill

Just like the good old days: great counter seating (or carry away to a patio table) and the perfect diner menu (breakfast, lunch and dinner): huge sandwiches, luscious burgers and hot dogs, and deli fare worthy of New York. The Philly steak sandwich here impresses even natives of that city.

Du-par’s Restaurant

Perhaps the quintessential local favorite, Du-par's has been around since 1938, almost as long as the Market itself. Some believe the phrase comfort food was created to describe this beloved diner. From homemade chicken pot pies to the best hotcakes in Los Angeles, Du-par's is always a fan favorite.

Gott's Roadside

Gott’s Roadside—emphasizing locally sourced ingredients and a modern take on American classics—is making its Los Angeles debut when it opens in the Market this winter. Founded in 1999 by Joel Gott in Napa Valley, this iconic James Beard Award–winning restaurant is known for its craveable menu, wine country hospitality, and family-friendly atmosphere.

Dylan's Candy Bar

A wonderland of simply delightful delicious sweets, Dylan's is a colorful artistic celebration of the joy of candy where grown-ups have as much fun as youngsters. Thousands of candies are available to satisfy almost any sweet tooth, everything from classics to new favorites sandwiched in between a melt-in-your mouth fondue bar. (Located on the eastern end of Farmers Market Plaza)

Magic Nut and Candy Company

A world-wide selection of nuts occupies the counters here. So do exotic treats of all kinds: candied fruits in so many varieties that it’s difficult to keep track, wonderful candies and flavored popcorns. They’ll box it for you, ship it for you or just hand it over so you can start enjoying it all right away.

Bennett's Ice Cream

Bennett’s Ice Cream is one of the last of a vanishing tradition: Scott Bennett and his staff make their own ice cream from fresh ingredients mixed on the spot (you can watch the process through Bennett’s kitchen window). The result is so fine that Bennett's regularly wins awards (there are Blue Ribbons all over the shop). The flavors are also wonderfully inventive – try Scott’s cabernet sauvignon sorbet or his pumpkin ice cream. Click here to learn about Scott Bennett, owner of Bennett's Ice Cream.

Local Ice

Local Ice serves their delicious cold treats on the Market's West Patio. Made in small batches using organic ingredients, their creamy ice cream and dairy-free Italian ices are hand-crafted on site for you to see! Classic treats like splits, sundaes and milk shakes are also available. Delectable flavors include: Tommy’s Traditional Vanilla, Samantha’s Sweet Strawberry, Josh’s Java, Cookie Monster, Salty Sam’s Caramel, Bananas Foster, and many more.

Bob's Coffee & Doughnuts

An L.A. institution: fresh, made-right-here doughnuts every day and a select variety of premium coffees and teas. Kids love the specialty doughnuts (dinosaurs and kitties) and everybody raves about Bob’s cinnamon roll. (Critic Favorite)

Figure 8 Tea Project

Introducing a boba drink concept created by a husband and wife duo passionate about delicious handcrafted drinks using natural ingredients and flavorful toppings. They boast a fresh menu curated to reflect many of the cultures that make up the community in Los Angeles.
